JEF-Finland has received Erasmus+ funding for Nature and Diversity in the North project. The aim is to increase dialogue among the Nordic youth about the biodiversity of northern nature, European climate and environmental policy, as well as the position of minorities.

“Effects of our biggest global challenges, such as climate and biodiversity crises, can first be seen in Lapland and other northern parts of Europe, affecting the environment and people’s livelihoods. We need to protect and enhance nature and diversity in the north, by raising awareness and inspiring dialogue especially among youth, who are the key to the future“, states Risto Rajala, president of JEF-Finland.

The project targets Nordic youth aged 15-28 with focus on youth participation, diversity as well as biodiversity and nature. The aim is to reach young people from different backgrounds to discuss and find solutions to climate and environmental questions. In the project, Eurooppanuoret especially wants to raise the awareness about minorities and strengthen their voice in the European debate.

“We think it will be interesting to learn more about the subjects of the project and also to discuss the subjects with other young people from the Nordic countries and at the same time experience the nature and people of Lapland. This is also a good example of how a great Nordic cooperation can turn into concrete projects to the benefit of all Nordic sections. We really look forward to the project!”, comments Patrick von Wildenradt, the Treasurer of JEF-Denmark.

During the project JEF-Finland arranges two events with JEF-Norway and JEF-Denmark. The first event will be a seminar in Rovaniemi on 16th - 18th of September. The other event will be held in the February 2023.

Eurooppanuoret sai Erasmus+-rahoituksen Nature and Diversity in the North -hankkeelle. Hankkeen tavoitteena on lisätä pohjoismaalaisten nuorten välistä dialogia pohjoisen luonnon monimuotoisuudesta, eurooppalaisesta ilmasto- ja ympäristöpolitiikasta sekä vähemmistöjen asemasta.

Hankkeen painopisteinä ovat nuorten osallisuus, monimuotoisuus sekä luonto. Hanke on avoin kaikille 15-28-vuotiaille pohjoismaalaisille nuorille. Hankkeen tavoitteena on tavoittaa eritaustaisia nuoria keskustelemaan ja pohtimaan ratkaisujan ilmasto- ja ympäristökysymyksiin. Hankkeessa haluamme erityisesti lisätä vähemmistötietoisuutta sekä vahvistaa heidän ääntään eurooppakeskustelussa.

Osana hanketta Eurooppanuoret järjestää Norjan ja Tanskan sisarjärjestöjen kanssa kaksi tapahtumaa. Ensimmäinen tapahtuma on syksyllä 2022 Rovaniemellä 16.-18. syyskuuta järjestettävä seminaari. Toinen tapahtuma järjestetään helmikuussa 2023.
