Gergely Kozár and Ninni Norra Appointed Editors-in-Chief of Tähdistö

Gergely Kozár and Ninni Norra have been appointed editors-in-chief of Tähdistö, JEF Finland’s expert and organisational media, for the 2024 term. The Executive Board made the decision at its meeting 17/2023, based on interviews and the applications received. Two applications were submitted for the role by the deadline. Both editors-in-chief have previously held positions of trust within JEF Finland.
Ninni Norra (22) is an experienced association activist and EU advocate, as well as a student of business at Aalto University. Norra has been a writer for Tähdistö since 2022 and has a diverse background in areas including economics, security issues and technology. In 2022, Norra served on the board of JEF Helsinki, responsible for political advocacy. In her free time, Norra enjoys classical music, foreign languages and investing. On sunny days, she enjoys long walks.

Gergely Kozár (23) is a well-travelled university student across Europe, whose heart beats for federalism. Kozár is studying economics at KU Leuven in Belgium and serves on the editorial board of The New Federalist, the expert magazine of JEF Europe, JEF Finland’s international umbrella organisation.

“I hope we can build a great team and strong international cooperation. I want to publish high-quality reporting and timely perspectives on Europe, especially now with the EU elections coming up”, comments newly elected Kozár, on his expectations for the coming year.

Kozár and Norra have clear goals for their work as editors-in-chief: “I want Tähdistö to be active, visible and reliable. We need to grow our readership, and make sure that growth is genuinely earned”, says Gergely. Norra adds: “Current media coverage doesn’t match the extent to which the EU now affects citizens’ everyday lives. I see the role of editor-in-chief as a great opportunity to develop Finnish EU communication, both in quality and quantity.”

Tähdistö’s outgoing editor-in-chief, Nea Baarman, who coordinated the recruitment, commented on the appointment of the new editors-in-chief: “It’s wonderful to have two such capable and insightful young people as editors-in-chief, people whose work we can rely on. In the coming year, alongside the EU elections, we want to raise JEF Finland’s profile as Finland’s most influential and knowledgeable youth organisation focused on EU affairs, and for that we need people like Ninni and Gergely!”

A warm welcome to the team, Ninni and Gergely!
