Statements and advocacy
We take a stand for young people. At the core of our advocacy is increasing youth participation both in Finland and in Europe.
We advocate for a better Europe
JEF Finland’s advocacy work is guided by a policy paper, updated yearly and defined by the membership. Increasing youth participation is at the centre of everything we do.
We actively take a stand through statements, stunts, opinion pieces and direct advocacy towards political actors at home and internationally.
How does JEF Finland advocate?
Advocacy in many forms
Advocacy is done in many ways, listening to the membership. JEF Finland has a working group where members can influence what kind of advocacy JEF Finland does. Read more below about how JEF Finland advocates and join the working group!
Political preparation
JEF Finland publishes a wide range of statements and campaigns on current topics and drafts opinions to support legislative work. JEF Finland’s political advocacy is guided by the organisation’s policy paper.
Equality work
All of JEF Finland’s activities are guided by an equality programme that emphasises concrete actions to strengthen everyone’s opportunity to participate, regardless of background. Equality is also one of the key political themes JEF Finland keeps on the agenda all year round.
Communications
JEF Finland actively sparks and strengthens the EU debate in Finland. We communicate actively on several channels, and our sharp messaging reaches young people and decision-makers widely across Finland.
Events
At JEF Finland’s events young people get to voice their hopes for EU policy and learn about current topics. Participants also often get to meet political decision-makers and share their visions for the direction of politics.
International activities
JEF Finland is an active part of its international umbrella organisation JEF Europe, whose political working group meetings are open to all members. JEF Finland also has several representatives in JEF Europe’s leadership, and through its active international work JEF Finland makes sure that the voice of Finnish youth is heard loudly across Europe.
