Projects and campaigns
We bring Europe closer to young people, for example through school visits and communication campaigns, and we produce and publish knowledge about young people and the EU.
Project
Youth Security Barometer
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has granted JEF Finland funding for a survey studying the opinions of young people (aged 15–28) on the foreign and security policy line of the EU and Finland. The aim is to find out how young people perceive different global security threats, from a Europe-wide war to the climate crisis, and what kind of solutions they would like to see.
The study consists of a national survey carried out 16 Aug – 1 Nov, in-depth individual interviews and a co-creation workshop focusing on young people’s participation in security policy. The high-quality report written on the basis of the findings can be used in decision-making and government preparatory processes in the future. The final report will be handed over to decision-makers and stakeholders at launch events in Helsinki and Brussels in December 2026.

Campaign
Parliamentary elections 2027
The parliamentary elections are also EU elections at heart: they will decide Finland’s European future and the voice with which the Finnish state speaks in the EU.
Finland must be at the forefront of ensuring that the Union does not passively drift in the waves of global crises, but that the EU is genuinely built into a credible and united security actor that holds the reins of its own game.

Project
School visits
Hey teacher or group leader: would you like your class to have a lesson on EU decision-making and how to influence it? JEF Finland’s skilled school visitors are happy to give interactive, lesson-length info sessions around Finland.
School visits are carried out as part of Eurooppalainen Suomi’s Eurooppatiedotus project.
