Iiris Asunmaa elected Vice President of European Movement Finland

European Movement Finland’s autumn meeting has, on JEF Finland’s proposal, elected Iiris Asunmaa as the organisation’s Vice President for 2022. The nomination was backed by the Finnish Union of Upper Secondary School Students, the Finnish Union of Vocational Students – SAKKI ry, the Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK ry, the National Union of University Students in Finland – SYL ry, and the Finnish Student Alliance – OSKU ry. Asunmaa served as President of JEF Finland in 2019–2020.

“It’s great that young people’s voice will be heard strongly in European Movement Finland’s work again next year, as we celebrate the European Year of Youth. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of impact we can achieve as an organisation in this context. Special thanks to everyone who supported my nomination”, comments Asunmaa.

In addition to Asunmaa, several JEF Finland members were elected to European Movement Finland’s board. Gurmann Saini (Greens) continues as one of the organisation’s Vice Presidents, Jenna Rautionaho was elected as a board member, and Mari Issakainen, Juho Mölsä, Tuomas Karvonen and Niko Nyholm were elected as deputy members.

“Iiris has left a big mark on the European Movement’s work. I’m delighted that her work for a more united Europe will continue as Vice President of European Movement Finland. JEF Finland warmly congratulates everyone who was elected”, states JEF Finland’s President Risto Rajala.
