Invitation to an Extraordinary General Assembly

Dear member of JEF Finland,

At its meeting on 28 June 2024, the Executive Board decided to postpone the extraordinary General Assembly for reasons related to meeting logistics, and hereby convenes an extraordinary General Assembly to decide on the election of the association’s new President, starting at 18:00 on 12 August 2024. This invitation replaces the previously sent invitation to the extraordinary General Assembly.

Current President Amanda Alvesalo has submitted her resignation to the Board, and the Board has accepted the resignation effective from 1 July 2024. Until a new President is elected at the General Assembly, the association’s Vice Presidents will act as substitutes for the President’s duties.

The extraordinary General Assembly will be held in hybrid format, at Eteläranta 10, Helsinki, as well as remotely. The Executive Board warmly recommends remote participation for all meeting representatives.

The following decisions will be addressed at the meeting:
– Election of the President for 2024
– If necessary, election of a Vice President for 2024
– If necessary, deciding on the size of the Board
– Amendment of the rules
– Deciding on the amount of the extraordinary membership fee
– Any possible motions

According to the association’s rules, “[a]t the General Assembly, every individual member who has joined at least three (3) weeks before the meeting, or who has paid their membership fee for the current year, has one vote.”

Registration as a meeting representative for the General Assembly must be submitted by 23:59 on 8 August 2024 using this form. The elections will be conducted using an electronic voting system, the link to which will be sent to eligible meeting representatives.

According to the association’s rules, the association’s individual members and member organisations have the right to submit motions to the General Assembly. As required by the rules, motions must be submitted to the Executive Board for consideration three (3) weeks before the meeting, to [email protected].

More detailed provisions on the elections and candidacy are set out in the election guidelines, available on our website.

Meeting documents will be sent to registered participants starting 22 July, and the meeting link one week before the meeting.
