JEF Finland’s Climate Emergency pamphlet has been published

Even as the world grapples with the global coronavirus pandemic, climate change hasn’t gone anywhere. Mitigating climate change is still the most important question shaping humanity’s future. The negative consequences of the climate crisis are distributed unevenly across the globe, and those who suffer most from its effects are people who are already in the weakest position, for example due to poverty.

Young people in particular experience great anxiety and insecurity because of climate change. The most severe consequences of climate change will only become concrete in the future. That’s why the climate crisis threatens, above all, young people, who make up about a third of the EU’s entire population. Youth climate activism is a concrete demonstration of a burning desire to influence climate policy.

JEF Finland’s climate pamphlet was written because ambitious and appropriately scaled climate action is a prerequisite for young people’s future. In the pamphlet, JEF Finland’s own activists reflect on how the EU’s climate policy must be concretely developed. The writings examine the EU’s Baltic Sea strategy, ecological reconstruction, emissions trading, the textile industry, the Union’s agricultural policy, and youth climate activism.

Happy reading!
