At its congress in Turku on Sunday, 27 November 2022, Young Europeans Finland elected 25-year-old international politics student Amanda Alvesalo from Espoo as the organization’s new chair for 2023.
“Young people’s voices must be heard in the 2023 parliamentary elections. Finnish youth are very pro-EU, and this view needs to be represented. Finland cannot influence global developments alone — we need closer EU cooperation to do that. Young people also need to get out and vote in the 2024 European Parliament elections, and work toward that goal must begin now,” says newly elected chair Amanda Alvesalo.
The congress also elected Antti Avoranta and Sami Matikainen as vice chairs of the federation board for 2023. Elsa Kivinen, Linda Kinnunen, Nea-Bettina Baarman, Nea-Maria Törmänen, Petteri Kolmonen, Samuel Tammekann, and Shpejtim Zhitia were elected as board members.
