JEF Finland National Congress 2018

Welcome to JEF Finland’s statutory National Congress to influence the organisation’s activities and to elect the new officials for 2019. The National Congress will be held from Saturday to Sunday, 1.-2.12.2018. The National Congress begins on Saturday at 12:00. The meeting venue is the Ilokivi building, owned by the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä (JYY), at Keskussairaalantie 2, 40600 Jyväskylä.

The National Congress will address the statutory matters of the association:

  • reviewing the organisation’s annual report for the previous calendar year
  • reviewing the financial statements and the statements of the performance auditor and the auditor for the previous calendar year
  • confirming the financial statements and deciding on the discharge from liability of those accountable
  • reviewing the organisation’s budget and plan of action for the following year
  • electing the chair of the executive board, who is also referred to as the chair of the organisation
  • electing two (2) vice-chairs of the executive board and 7‐11 other members of the executive board
  • electing one (1) auditor and one (1) performance auditor, as well as their deputies
  • approving the model rules for member organisations
  • setting the membership fees for individual members
  • addressing any initiatives
  • addressing any declarations and statements of the National Congress

In addition to the statutory matters, the National Congress will approve JEF Finland’s political programme, equality programme and the model rules for member organisations, as well as elect JEF Finland’s chair, vice-chairs and executive board for 2019.

The executive board hopes that initiatives addressed to the National Congress by members or regional organisations will be submitted to the executive board by 3.11.2018. Initiatives addressed to the National Congress by regional organisations and members must be submitted no later than 10.11.2018. Initiatives should be sent to the organisation’s Secretary General at [email protected]

Working groups will be organised on Saturday evening for the documents to be approved at the congress. The working groups will discuss the plan of action, the budget, the political programme, the equality programme and the model rules for regional organisations. The rest of the National Congress programme and the preliminary schedule will be published in week 43.

Voting rights at JEF Finland’s National Congress

Individual members who have paid their 2018 membership fee no later than three (3) weeks before the National Congress (10.11.2018) have the right to vote at the association’s statutory National Congress. If you are unsure about your membership fee payment for the current year, you can check the situation and request payment details from JEF Finland’s Secretary General at mikko.kymalainen(a)eurooppanuoret.fi.

Practical arrangements

We ask all National Congress participants to register in advance to ensure a smooth congress for everyone. Registration for the National Congress opens on 25.10.2018. Registration for the National Congress closes no later than 16.11.2018, but it is also possible to attend the congress without prior registration.

The congress materials will be published on JEF Finland’s website three weeks before the National Congress (by 10.11.2018).

JEF Finland supports its members’ participation in the National Congress by reimbursing travel expenses up to 50 euros with a 20-euro deductible. Travel reimbursement is available to those who have paid their membership fee for 2018 and submitted a travel reimbursement application with receipts by 10.12.2018. Standing for JEF Finland’s executive board?

The National Congress will elect JEF Finland’s chair, vice-chairs and executive board for the 2019 term. Every JEF Finland individual member who has paid their membership fee for 2018 is entitled to apply for the positions. Candidates for elected positions can register at the congress venue.

You can also announce your candidacy in advance and have your introduction published on JEF Finland’s website and social media channels, where introductions will be published up until the National Congress. These introduction texts must be submitted to the Secretary General by 23.11.2018. Further information and instructions for candidates will be published in week 44.
