Welcome to JEF Finland’s statutory National Congress to influence and decide on the organisation’s activities and to elect the executive board’s elected officials for 2021! The National Congress will be held at Aalto University in Espoo on 28.11.-29.11.2020. The National Congress begins on Saturday 28.11. at 12:00. It is possible to attend the National Congress remotely or at the meeting venue in Espoo. See the registration instructions at the end of this invitation.
This invitation was amended on 12.11.2020. We are changing the National Congress venue to enable streaming for remote participants and a safe National Congress for those attending on site. The National Congress will be held on 28.-29.11. in the Vallila hall at Metropol Hietaniemi, at Hietaniemenkatu 14, 00100 Helsinki.
This invitation was amended on 20.11.2020. Due to the restrictions issued by the authorities today, a maximum of 20 people may attend at the National Congress venue. On 28.-29.11. only the 2020 executive board, the chair of the meeting, the secretariat and other officers will attend at the venue. The other congress delegates will attend the National Congress remotely.
The National Congress will address the statutory matters of the association and the documents guiding its activities:
- reviewing the organisation’s annual report for the previous calendar year
- reviewing the financial statements and the statements of the performance auditor and the auditor for the previous calendar year
- confirming the financial statements and deciding on the discharge from liability of those accountable
- reviewing the organisation’s budget and plan of action for the following year
- electing the chair of the executive board, who is also referred to as the chair of the organisation
- electing two (2) vice-chairs of the executive board and 5-8 other members of the executive board
- electing one (1) auditor and one (1) performance auditor, as well as their deputies
- approving the model rules for member organisations
- setting the membership fees for individual members
- addressing any initiatives
- electing JEF Finland’s chair, vice-chairs and executive board for 2021, and
addressing any statements of the National Congress - In addition to the statutory matters, the National Congress will approve JEF Finland’s political programme and equality programme
The congress materials will be published on JEF Finland’s website three weeks before the National Congress (by 7.11.2020).
JEF Finland’s individual members and member organisations have the opportunity to submit initiatives to the National Congress. Initiatives must be submitted no later than 7.11.2020. Initiatives are sent to the Secretary General by email ([email protected]).
Working groups will be organised on Saturday evening for the documents to be approved at the congress. The working groups will discuss the plan of action, the budget, the political programme and the statement, as well as the equality programme. Please note: the working group sessions will be held only remotely on the Zoom platform. All congress participants must have a device (smartphone, computer or tablet) for the working group sessions. The rest of the National Congress programme and the preliminary schedule will be published in week 44.
Voting rights at JEF Finland’s National Congress
Individual members who have been accepted as members of JEF Finland no later than three (3) weeks before the National Congress (7.11.2020) have the right to vote at the association’s statutory National Congress. Registration and practical arrangements
It is possible to attend the National Congress remotely or at the meeting venue in Espoo.
Attending the National Congress remotely: Remote participation is only possible for those who have registered for the National Congress in advance. Those attending the National Congress remotely must register no later than Monday 23.11.2020. Attending the National Congress remotely is free of charge. Those attending remotely will be sent instructions on the practical arrangements and voting procedures closer to the date of the National Congress. The voting and election rules will also be published on JEF Finland’s website before the National Congress.
Attending the National Congress at the venue: To ensure a safe and smooth congress, we ask everyone attending the National Congress at the venue to register in advance. When registering, you can also book accommodation and meals if you wish. Registration for attending the National Congress at the venue closes on 11.11.2020. It is also possible to attend the congress without prior registration, but we ask everyone to register for the National Congress in advance.

JEF Finland supports its members’ participation in the National Congress by reimbursing travel expenses up to 50 € with a 20 € deductible. Travel reimbursement is available to JEF Finland members who have submitted a travel reimbursement application with receipts by 9.12.2020.
